Major Principles for Parables in the Bible; Luke 16-18

·      Luke 16:1-12
o   Elder James E. Talmage explains, “Be diligent; for the day in which you can use your earthly riches will soon pass. Take a lesson from even the dishonest and the evil; if they are so prudent as to provide for the only future they think of, how much more should you, who believe in an eternal future, provide therefor! If you have not learned wisdom and prudence in the use of ‘unrighteous mammon,’ how can you be trusted with the more enduring riches?”
·      Luke 16:19-31
o   President Joseph F. Smith said, “… before spirits can be released from spirit prison, they must hear the gospel and accept it and the saving ordinances must be performed for them.”
·      Luke 17:11-19
o   Christ has the power to heal us entirely if we choose to have faith and show gratitude. Bishop Merrill J. Bateman said, “In becoming a whole person, the grateful leper was healed inside as well as on the outside. That day nine lepers were healed skin deep, but only one had the faith to be made whole”
·      Luke 18: 1-8
o   The Lord will avenge the faithful because He loves us.
·      Luke 18:9-14
o   Outward actions of devotion do not always mean there are inward levels of devotion.
