Christ often refers to being as a “little
child”. We can learn from Doctrine and Covenants section 78 verses 17-18 a
little more about what this means, “ye have not yet understood how great
blessings the Father hath…. prepared for you…. be of good cheer, for I will
lead you along.” We will never be as knowledgeable as the Savior and Heavenly
Father so we must always seek their help and trust in their guidance. If we do
so we are promised to be blessed with the kingdom of God.
Heavenly
Father has given us a special gift to help us on our path in making correct
choices: the Holy Ghost. He will communicate to us through the Holy Ghost so it
is also important we live in such a way to be worthy to have the companionship
of the Holy Ghost.
In
the Book of Mormon, Mosiah chapter 3 verse 19 it gives further explanation of attributes
we can work on in order to be more like a child, “submissive, meek, humble,
patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit
to inflict upon him.” It is interesting to me now because I have a two year old
and so I sometimes compare this list to his actions. He really is all of these
attributes at times- but what I see most is his total trust in me. It has
helped me see how much I should trust in the Lord.
