- As you study the following verses, make a list of what the Savior taught about (1) what the Holy Ghost does and (2) what disciples must do to receive the Holy Ghost:
- John 14:15–17
- Provides comfort if you keep the commandments.
- John 14:26–27
- “He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance” if you do not fear or let doubts enter into your heart.
- John 15:26–27
- Will provide a testimony and confirmation of the Savior because you were with the Savior from the beginning.
- John 16:7–8
- The comforter came because the Savior left. The Holy Ghost helps to “reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment”
- John 16:13–14
- If you listen you will be able to speak through the power of the Holy Ghost and testify of the Savior.
I think the Holy Ghost helped the
Apostles by confirming what they already knew about the Savior during tough
times. Things were definitely difficult after the Lord was raised and I’m sure
it was very challenging to stay strong while so many people would not listen.
There were several events in high
school that were tragedies of different types. At first I didn’t know what to
feel and I struggled for a little bit and felt lost. Then I turned to the
Savior. This was a blessing because I instantly felt the comfort and trust that
accompany the Holy Ghost. I wasn’t afraid anymore about what had happened. I
think it would have taken longer if I didn’t already have a testimony of Jesus
Christ.
